The American garage, specializing in retrofitting old Ford Broncos, is diversifying and presenting its electric interpretation of the legendary Land Rover Series III of the 70s and 80s.
While piloting his (polluting) Bronco on the roads of Mammoth Mountain, Adam Roe cuts the engine downhill. All he can hear is the sound of the wheels and the wind. It’s a revelation: he sold his advertising box and, in 2015, launched his start-up Zero Labs, based in California. Since then, he has specialized in retrofitting and giving new electric life to vintage Ford Broncos.
Asked by The Good Life last March, the founder of Zero Labs told us that he was working on a new model, without giving more details. It is now done: Adam Roe is coming " to add the Land Rover to the family ". Series III, produced between 1971 and 1985, available in convertible versions for the beach, or closed, for walks in the forest.
They are equipped with the same motors and batteries as the Broncos from Zero Labs. Choose from 85 or 100 kWh, for up to 378 kilometers of range and 600 horsepower. The body panels are made of aluminum alloy and the interior and exterior lines have undergone the Adam Roe treatment: ripolining, minimalism, neo-retro.
Zero Labs, a Land Rover to initiate diversification
Against a check for $ 185,000, you can afford this big electric toy, the delivery of which is scheduled for 2021. Orders are already open.
While Zero Labs adds the Land Rover to its catalog, it does not forget the Bronco: " we didn't swap the Bronco for the Land Rover, it was just next on the list … »Specifies Adam Roe, who, in March, confided in us that he was« looking for new investors "To allow him to" adapt to new categories of cars ". Soon Mustangs, Corvettes or Cadillacs signed Zero Labs?
4 × 4s are definitely on the rise, from Land Rover transformations to Ford which recently introduced a new Bronco. The retrofit, on the other hand, appears to be a miracle solution for lovers of classics concerned about the environment … Imposture or brilliant current? Answer in the next issue of The Good Life, 100% dedicated to electric cars (on newsstands on 1er October).
