Mi A3 and Mi 9 Lite: superheroes by day, super-zeros by night
The Xiaomi Mi A3 and the Mi 9 Lite are both equipped with a main sensor 48 megapixel with wide-angle lens, A sensor 8 megapixel with ultra wide-angle lens as well as a 2 megapixel camera for depth of field. By day, the pictures taken are very good, little digital noise and the level of detail retained is quite impressive for the price of the two devices. The colorimetry is respected, true to reality. However, things get spoiled when we switch to x2 zoom. The device’s AI is under severe strain. Grain appears in the image and the contours are sometimes distorted.

At night unfortunately, it's barely acceptable. Contours become runny, colors are almost always too hot or too cold. And above all, a lot of noise in the image. But nothing shocking for phones sold for less than 250 euros.
Xiaomi Mi Note 10: the best photophone at the moment?
Monstrous, huge, unprecedented, all possible and unimaginable superlatives have been cited to describe the impressive main sensor of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 108 megapixels. It is the first phone to date to have such a photo module. If the 108-megapixel argument sounds attractive, beware, it's also marketing. By day, the quality is there. Right now, it’s without a doubt one of the best photophones on the market. It allows in particular to make cropping in the image, without losing detail. Unlike other smartphones dedicated to photography, the main 108 MP sensor allows the smartphone to reduce digital modifications. Which gives a smoother, more natural look to your photographs. We just regret that the waiting time between each shot is so long (at least 5 seconds).
Xiaomi Mi Note 10
The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 also offers a sensor 12 megapixel with a x2 telephoto lens, a sensor 5 megapixels with a x5 telephoto lens, a sensor 20 megapixels with an ultra wide angle lens and a sensor 2 megapixel macro. By day, the quality is excellent too, the ultra wide-angle retains a good level of detail, the proposed zoom impresses up to x50 and the macro sensor offers very beautiful shots provided you do not move during the shooting. If the pictures taken at night are pleasing to the eye, there is still a well pronounced smoothing and the night mode requires a particularly long waiting time (8 seconds) but the result is worth the effort.
In our three challengers, we find a front camera of 32 megapixel who defends with excellent dynamics and good dive.
Performance: the Mi 9 Lite and the Mi Note 10 in mind
No wonder in this ranking given the price, the Mi A3 is equipped with the worst processor, a Snapdragon 665 chip coupled with 4 GB of RAM. No worries detected when you scroll down the menu or launch several applications at the same time. The most demanding mobile games work almost all but for the most part in low resolution. For comparison, it does a little better than the Redmi Note 7.
The Mi 9 Lite and Mi Note 10 are equipped with the best Qualcomm chips on the mid-range, namely Snapdragon 710 and 730G associated with 6 GB of RAM. Same, no problem with navigation or in game. Note that the 730 G is the best optimized for gaming. Special mention for the Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite which has the best value for money on this.

Screen: the Mi A3 lagging behind
The Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite, Mi Note 10 and Mi A3 have respectively 6.1, 6.4 and 6.5 inch AMOLED screens.
Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite
The Mi Note 10 and Mi A3 can both display content in Full HD + (1080 x 2340 pixels). The Mi A3 is unfortunately worse off since it is confined to HD + (720 x 1560 pixels). However, it should be remembered that the Xiaomi Mi A3 is the cheapest smartphone to be equipped with an AMOLED screen.
Xiaomi Mi A3
Design: we take the same and start again
The three phones have almost the same design with a glass frame. Again, the Xiaomi Mi A3 is strong considering its price. Only the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 stands out with its curved screen but in any case, you will end up with a teardrop notch above each slab. Good news, the three integrate a mini-jack port.

Autonomy: the Mi 9 Lite a little behind
Apart from photography, the Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite seemed to outperform other phones with its excellent value for money. However, the Mi 9 Lite is less enduring than its little brother, the Mi A3. While the Mi 9 Lite has the same battery capacity as the Mi A3 (4030 mAh), the latter is less energy intensive.
Xiaomi Mi A3
One would also think that the Mi Note 10 is well above autonomy level thanks to its 5260 mAh. It is indeed, but little. Its technical configuration is quite energy-hungry.
Conclusion: the photo or the price, you will have to choose
Thus two phones stand out from the classification. The Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite seems to be an excellent compromise between power, screen quality and price. At this price, no other manufacturer offers an equivalent smartphone.
Xiaomi is hitting hard with a very versatile Mi 9 Lite sold at an always aggressive price. Once again, the Chinese firm democratizes access to the latest technologies. Its mid-range smartphone displays complete equipment within reach of all budgets. He will be criticized, however, for his lack of originality in his approach and in the technologies used. Xiaomi is not innovative with this new model but at this price, difficult to do better.
However if you want the best in mobile photography right now, you have to choose the Xiaomi Mi Note 10. Simply spectacular, its main objective of 108 Mpx will not leave you indifferent in front of the shots you will take.
This new foray by the Chinese manufacturer in the high-end sector is generally successful. The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 has many advantages such as its screen, its performance, its interface and its photo part. The latter is not perfect however, Xiaomi must refine its software so that the wow effect is even more intense. If its interface remains fluid in all circumstances, the Snapdragon 730G has some limits in play and for 550 euros, we would have liked to take advantage of the power of a Snapdragon 855. In addition, this processor would undoubtedly have reduced the duration of photo processing . We can also criticize its design. The Mi Note 10 is massive, too massive and if it has a gigantic battery, its autonomy is correct, nothing more. In the end, we have a good smartphone that could have been excellent.
If your budget doesn't allow you to buy the Mi Note 10 or the Mi 9 Lite, the Xiaomi Mi A3 remains excellent in its price range.
With the Mi A3, Xiaomi still manages to climb on tiptoe to overtake the competition in the entry level. It will delight users looking for a durable smartphone, which can last up to two days in mixed use. Just like those looking for a smartphone capable of taking beautiful photos in broad daylight for an affordable price. And who do not want their photos to be distorted by an overly interventionist artificial intelligence.
