The spread of Covid-19 has dramatically changed the world of wine. Viticulturalists, retailers and wine merchants or lovers of good bottles forced to organize their aperitifs via the Zoom application, all have suffered the throes of the virus. Unable to accommodate the public, the winemakers were therefore forced to adapt so that the activity of the vine could continue.
Proof of this is with the operations of the Cadillac-Côtes-de-Bordeaux appellation, which has been stopped since mid-March. The AOC, which was to organize the 25e edition of its open house, has, in fact, decided to maintain the traditional Pentecost weekend event, but on the Internet. The appellation has set up an exceptional device set up in an emergency, and unprecedented in the wine world: a virtual immersion in around fifty AOC properties and cellars.
To respect the barrier gestures and the national sanitary measures imposed, the event was adapted and transformed into an appointment on social networks. The public will be able to follow the Facebook event throughout the weekend, as well as on the Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux YouTube page. For those who would like to replenish their cellars damaged during the confinement period, the participating castles will offer wine for purchase, to come and pick up on site in the drive.
Did you know : Located upstream of Bordeaux on the right bank of the Garonne, the appellation extends over the plateau and the hillsides which dominate the river, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful regions of the Bordeaux vineyards. As for the wines produced, there are reds, but also, still in AOC Cadillac, delicate sweet wines, less loaded with sugar than neighboring Sauternes and very appreciated as an aperitif.
Useful information : 25e open day in Cadillac-Côtes-de-Bordeaux, May 30 and 31, 2020 on the Facebook and the YouTube page of the appellation.
