The Toyota plant in Onnaing in the Valenciennes region changes its mind. Toyota Motor Manufacturing France (TMMF) President Luciano Biondo announced this Friday, September 11 that he was leaving the Japanese group. A surprise announcement made via a video sent to the 4,800 site employees.
We lost a president, but also a work colleague
Miner's son, Luciano Biondo started in the automotive industry as a supervisor at PSA, before climbing all the ranks. Since 2013, he was vice-president of Toyota Onnaing, then took the lead in 2017. The announcement of his departure is a "big surprise"for Thomas Mercier, CFDT representative,"we lost a chairman, but also a work colleague, who established a social dialogue in the company". The trade unionist recalls, however, that these are"the employees who make the plant valuable". The CGT is less nostalgic:"all these people are interchangeable, it's a non-event in the workshops", says delegate Eric Pecqueur.
Recruited by Renault?
Luciano Biondo would arrive at another car manufacturer, French this time, Renault. This ch'ti would stay in the north, he would bring his know-how from made in France in factories Douai, Maubeuge and Ruitz.
A member of the management of Toyota Europe, Marvin cooke, takes over from Luciano Biondo at Toyota Onnaing.
