We are now used to Drag Race in which electric cars beat benchmark sports cars. But can a Taycan Turbo S over 2 tonnes compete with a Huracan Evo and its V10?
The Porsche Taycan Turbo S has already shown itself capable of blasting many sports cars on an acceleration test. We saw it thoroughly on the German highway, beating its rival the Tesla Model S… But when it finds itself facing a Huracan EVO over a quarter of a mile (400 meters standing start), is it capable of competing? ? To find out, the two cars were put side by side for a drag race broadcast on the Youtube channel DragTimes. As a reminder, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S is powered by two electric motors generating a combined power of 761 horsepower and torque of 1050 Nm.
Power is sent to all four wheels, allowing the electric sedan to go from 0 to 100 km / h in just 2.6 seconds, making it one of the fastest production cars on the market. Considering that it weighs nearly 2.3 tons, the acceleration is bluffing.
The Lamborghini Huracan Evo develops 640 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque thanks to its fabulous 5.2-liter atmospheric V10. It also sends power to all four wheels, but it cuts down from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds. It is 3 tenths more than its competitor of the day, but the Italian weighs only 1,655 kg.
While the Huracan Evo struggles to get power to the ground in slippery conditions, the Taycan’s acceleration is more gradual, allowing it to gain a significant lead. In the first race, the Taycan crossed the finish line in 10.39 seconds at 129.64 mph (208 km / h), while the Huracan Evo needs 10.73 seconds at 126.1 mph (202 km / h).
The pilot of the Italian supercar may have tried and tried again… With its heat engine, the Huracan could not match the pace of the Porsche Taycan. Nevertheless, we prefer to listen to the sweet sound of the atmospheric 5.2-liter V10 rather than the futuristic and discreet breath of the Taycan… For us, victory for the Lambo!
