Sebastian vettel is having a particularly delicate season, failing to exploit the Ferrari SF1000 as well as his teammate Charles Leclerc. In the Portuguese Grand Prix, where Leclerc qualified fourth and finished the race in that same position, Vettel started 15th and finished tenth. At the end of the weekend, the German expressed his frustration at this desperate situation.
His remarks made at the microphone of the German channel RTL were interpreted by some as an insinuation according to which the two cars would not be identical at Ferrari. Very quickly, the Scuderia completely denied this possibility, Mattia Binotto asserting that the equipment of his two drivers was strictly the same. "Seb and Charles' cars are identical, it doesn't matter doubt", insisted the manager of the Italian team to Sky Italia. A little later, Vettel was pushed to clarify his words, which he did without necessarily showing himself to be totally convinced. "I think I have to think that we have the same car, and that I have to trust the people around me in the garage", he said.
