Mercedes-Benz showed at CES 2020 a futuristic car concept inspired by the movie Avatar (2009).
Mercedes-Benz presented a daring concept of car of the future, largely inspired by the film Avatar (2009) by James Cameron, during CES 2020 in Las Vegas in early January. It’s also called Mercedes-Benz Vision AVTR, so as not to hide its origins.
The American director participated in conceiving his design: beyond the line of the rather classic vehicle, it is especially on the side of the wheels (on the border between magic mushrooms and reactors, which would be inspired by the seeds of the Tree of the Soul of the film), seats and control center (a single touch zone where the driver can put his hand, but no steering wheel) that the car stands out.
The "fusion" between man and machine
In addition, the roof has been covered at the rear with 33 small sensors that Mercedes modestly calls "bionic flaps" that are supposed to help communicate with the outside, reports The Verge. Trypophobic, abstain: the small flaps are very close together and lift up in rhythm, giving a strange feeling of discomfort to those who do not appreciate the sight of very close holes.
Obviously, Mercedez-Benz is not going to market this prototype tomorrow: like all concepts, it is a way of showing its vision of the vehicles of the future, while achieving a nice communication push thanks to the presence of James Cameron . Especially than the movie Avatar 2 has been in the works for years, and the return of the franchise is eagerly awaited.
The central oval button, for example, raises a lot of curiosity: it would, according to Mercedes, allow to have control over all the elements of the car. According to journalists who were able to approach the craft, the object is supposed to vibrate according to your heart rate, to get a little closer to the " fusion Between man and machine.
