The documentary "Unfit: the psychology of Donald Trump", which was posted online this Tuesday, defends itself against any political ulterior motives. While the United States is in the middle of a presidential election campaign, he reveals the observations of several psychologists. An edifying light, weeks before the moment when American voters will have to decide whether or not to grant a new mandate to their head of state.
Psychologists who were interviewed in the documentary say they have a medical duty to alert American opinion on Donald Trump's mental health. According to one of them, John Gartner, the President of the United States clearly exhibits four key symptoms of evil narcissism – the "most destructive" personality type – including paranoia, narcissism, an antisocial character and sadism.
"These kinds of leaders crop up throughout history and they are always extraordinarily disruptive," said John Gartner, noting that the same diagnosis was made for such sinister figures as Hitler, Stalin and Mussolini. "It's not that he's as bad as Hitler or that he's the equivalent of a Hitler," the psychologist said, "but he has the same diagnosis as Hitler."
In a recent book, Mary Trump, the president's niece and herself a psychologist, called her uncle a narcissistic liar. "Donald's pathologies are so complex and his behaviors often so inexplicable that making a full diagnosis would require a whole battery of psychological and neurophysical tests that he will never pass," she said.
The White House called the book "false," fueled by baseless "allegations". In addition to psychologists, the documentary also interviews lawyers, historians, former intelligence officers and former advisers to the president.
