Traveling alone is an experience that for many can mean a well-deserved rest, as well as an option that others take advantage of on business trips to extend the experience in a place, but there are also those who prefer to travel alone to meet friends along the way.

In context: Ideal destinations in Colombia to have a moment alone

Whatever the reasons for going on a solo trip, more and more Colombians prefer to do it that way. According to one of the most recent investigations of the travel metasearch engine Booking, before the pandemic, only 16% of Colombians planned to make a trip of this type, on the other hand, now almost double (27%) indicate that they will conceive of making a trip alone in the future.

In that sense, the platform released some tips for those who decide on this travel option:

Knowing the gastronomy of the destination is the best option to get to know it. In relation, the metasearch engine recommends investigating “what are their gastronomic specialties before starting to make culinary plans in order to know in which places it will be essential to eat ”.

Traveling alone allows more flexibility when choosing the destination, the routes that you want to know and of course the accommodation options. In that sense, Booking advises inform yourself with the locals about the best points of the place as well as “ask the owner of the accommodation or the host for information about the places of interest in the area”.

This is one of the best aspects of going on a solo trip, so it is recommended to “investigate the rest options available at the destination.” The beaches are always an ideal option to find a moment with yourself.

To travel a destination without setbacks it is important to know public transport, the local culture and the daily movement of the place, that is why Booking recommends, “Save maps that work offline to be able to explore a destination knowing that, even if the phone does not have Wi-Fi or cellular data, with the saved maps you can move from one point to another without missing a single detail ”.

This is an aspect that should not be taken for granted, as it is important to choose an accommodation that meets the needs of each traveler. “It is important to take into account the tools necessary to communicate with family and friends or if it is the case to be able to work and fulfill day-to-day tasks”, Highlights the platform.
