Transat Jacques-Vabre: damage for Hugo Boss, forced to abandon – Voile – T. Jacques-Vabre – L'É

While Alex Thomson and Neal McDonald sailed at 25 knots in the northwestern Canaries, they struck an OFNI (unidentified floating object) this Sunday morning. After evaluating the damage, the British sailors observed that the keel of the Imoca Hugo Boss monohull was no longer attached except by the hydraulic cylinder allowing it to be tilted. The decision was made not to continue the race and find solutions to reach the nearest port.

According to the Transat Jacques-Vabre press release, the two men are safe inside the boat and have not suffered any major injuries. At the time of the incident, they were more than 400 miles behind leader Charal.
