Already 5 generations of Rav4 crisscrossing our roads. Yes, this compact SUV was a pioneer in its segment, making its appearance in 1994. And was a great success for its first 3 generations.
Then the competition took hold, and he fell back in the rankings. The 4th generation even looked poorly in France. But in 2018, Toyota released the latest generation. Stronger in style, and available only as a hybrid powertrain at the time of its launch, the SUV is now available as a plug-in hybrid – a version that we have already been able to test. Its only frontal competitor will be the Honda CR-V, which has also chosen the single hybrid.
Good news, this generation is improving everything. It is less wise, say almost less transparent in terms of design, its interior goes upmarket, its road performance too. And its hybrid unit based on a 2.5 4-cylinder assisted by an electric motor, for 222 hp cumulative, benefits from the latest improvements desired by Toyota (compression ratio, increased torque, lower consumption).
It is sober, compared to the performance and the weight of the whole, we can go down in real conditions to less than 6.5 liters on average. And even less in town. Not bad. The road behavior, it is reassuring, but typical comfort, therefore not very dynamic, it is not its vocation anyway?
The latter Rav4 is also more welcoming, with a good living space, and a boot volume that goes from 501 to 580 liters. However, no 7-seater version on the program.

What is the used Toyota Rav4 worth?
Too recent still, difficult for the last Rav4 to appear in our used section. But on the second-hand market, it is taking its first steps, with the gradual appearance of the first advertisements on the most famous sites. The reliability, it is hoped, will be at the level of the previous one, but not of the older generations, affected by important concerns.

Caradisiac's reliability notice
The Rav4 has a very good image of robustness. It is deserved today, but it has not always been so. The 2nd and 3rd generations, for example, had major problems with diesel engines (injectors, flywheel, DPF, etc.). The 4th generation has raised the bar, and we can hope that this 5th generation will follow in its footsteps. It is still a little early to tell.
The 1st Caradisiac auto show could not have taken place without the active support of the Cotentin agglomeration community and the Association des Amis du Hangar à Dirigeables d'Ecausseville. Many thanks to all those who facilitated the reception of Caradisiac in the airship hangar of Ecausseville, a unique historical monument in the world!
Our warmest thanks to the Prévost Group, which supported us from the very start in this adventure of organizing the 1st Caradisiac auto show. His experience has facilitated the management of the delivery flows of more than one hundred cars in the Hangar d'Ecausseville, nestled in the Normandy countryside!
