The smallest Toyota LCV – and its ludospace variation – is in turn making its energy transition by receiving a 100 kW electric motor and a 50 kWh battery. That is enough to cover more than 250 kilometers between two charges.
And four! After Citroën, Peugeot and Opel, Toyota in turn plugs in its small utility Proace City and its ludospace variation Proace City Verso, also built on the EMP2 platform of the former PSA group. “These new models are perfectly suitable for fleets and small businesses who need practical and reliable vehicles that allow them tounrestricted access to low emission areas, and also to improve their environmental performance, ”said Toyota in a press release.
Like its technical twins, the Toyota Proace City Electric therefore receives an electric block of 100 kW (136 hp) coupled to a 50 kWh lithium-ion battery. According to the Japanese manufacturer, it allows a maximum range of between 260 and 280 kilometers. “All Proace City Electric are fitted as standard with” a three-phase on-board charger of 11 kW : A full battery charge can be achieved in 5 hours. When the vehicle is connected to a 100 kW fast charger, 80% charge can be achieved in just 30 minutes “, specifies the manufacturer.
Three driving modes: Eco, Normal and Power are available on the vehicle. Each of them offers a specific adjustment of the engine power and torque. In Eco, the power delivered is 60 kW for a torque of 180 Nm. In Normal, it reaches 80 kW with 210 Nm and in Power this is 100 kW for 260 Nm. In any case, the maximum speed of the vehicle cannot exceed 135 km / h.
Practicality and versatility
Whether it is the SUV version or the passenger car version, the Toyota Proace Electric is offered with two different lengths: Medium (4.4 meters) and Long (4.75 m). For the pros, the catalog is full of two or three-seater sheet metal versions and extended cabin five places. “These electric models are as practical as the conventional Proace City with an identical load volume of up to 4.4 m3, up to 800 kg payload and up to 750 kg towing capacity “, recalls Toyota.
The Toyota Proace City Electric – whose first deliveries are expected at the end of the year – is available in three finishes: Active, Dynamic and Business. “The entry-level finish is simple and efficient, focused on practical qualities with the Moduwork system standard and ease of use thanks to the 11 kW three-phase on-board charger. The Dynamic version also offers manual air conditioning. The Business finish adds automatic air conditioning, Toyota Pro-Touch navigation system with Apple CarPlay / Android Auto connectivity, front and rear parking sensors supplemented with a reversing camera, ”explains the manufacturer. The prices of the vehicle will be communicated later, when the orders are opened.
