The Japanese manufacturer Toyota formalizes the launch on the European market of Proace Electric, a clone of the Peugeot e-Expert and Citroën ë-Jumpy. It has the same technical characteristics.

Toyota does not intend to miss the electrification train in the light utility market. While waiting for the zero emission version of the Proace City, the Japanese manufacturer is launching the Proace Electric, a clone of the Peugeot e-Expert and Citroën ë-Jumpy. No surprise therefore, whether in terms of available variations or technical characteristics.

Available to order since December, the van is offered with a 50 kWh battery providing a range of 230 kilometers, or a 75 kWh battery providing a range of 330 kilometers. This second proposal only concerns the medium and long versions. The catalog also includes a short version, a deep cabin with a second row of seats, a chassis cab and a version dedicated to passenger transport.

A multitude of proposals powered by a single 136 hp engine, with a torque of 260 Nm. The maximum speed is limited to 130 km / h. In terms of capacities, the Proace does not suffer from the switch to electric since its maximum payload remains one ton, while the loading volume oscillates between 4.6 and 6.1 m3 depending on the version. The battery is housed in the floor of the vehicle and does not encroach on the cargo space. The towable weight amounts to one tonne.

Two trim levels

For charging, nothing different either compared to PSA products, Proace Electric can be charged via all types of outlets, including 100 kW public terminals. The 50 kWh battery can thus be charged to 80% in about 30 minutes, and the 75 kWh battery in 45 minutes. The vehicle is also fitted as standard with an 11 kW three-phase charger to meet all recharging needs.

Toyota finally announces that the van is available in two finishes, Dynamic and Business. They benefit from standard equipment specific to this electric model, such as the electric handbrake or the 7 m charging cables. Instead of the traditional gear lever, there is an electronic control for selecting the transmission mode (Parking, Neutral, Drive, Regenerative braking). Another selector allows you to choose Eco, Normal or Power driving mode. The instrument cluster displays vehicle speed, instantaneous electricity consumption level, charge level, a heating / air conditioning indicator, and includes a multifunction display screen.

The Dynamic finish includes manual air conditioning, electric and heated mirrors, a multimedia system with a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay / Android Auto connectivity, the Moduwork system and rear parking sensors. The Business trim adds the Look pack, Smart Entry & Start and the Toyota Pro-Touch navigation system.
