The Xiaomi TV Mi TV 4S will be available from December 2 in Spain, but it will be next year to see a Xiaomi TV land in France. Xiaomi focuses on a very tight price rather than technology.
The manufacturer Xiaomi has announced the commercialization of its first TV in Europe. The Xiaomi Mi TV 4S will be available in Spain on December 2nd. This TV will be available in three different sizes 32 inches (82 cm), 43 inches (109 cm) and 55 inches (140 cm). All models share the same characteristics, namely a Mediatek MTK 6886 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage and two speakers of 10 W. Of course, Xiaomi requires, the TV board Android TV in version 9.0 (Pie ). Regarding the connection, there are three HDMI 2.0b inputs, two USB 2.0 ports, an Ethernet port, a headphone output, a composite input, an optical audio output, a TNT / cable / satellite tuner, Wi-Fi (802.11a / b / g / n / ac) and Bluetooth 4.2.
If Xiaomi willingly communicates on the processor, memory and connectivity, the company gives no information on the display technologies used. Even the product manager could not tell us the type of slabs used. In view of the very aggressive price, it is assumed that Xiaomi uses IPS LCD panels, but we hope to find at least one diagonal using a VA LCD panel (for better contrast). Xiaomi already sells TVs in China and India for several years, and sometimes the same reference uses either an IPS or VA panel. It will therefore be necessary to pay attention. The manufacturer also ensures HDR compatibility, but at this price, we do not have too many illusions and we do not expect a peak of brightness greater than 300 cd / m², which does not allow to exploit the contents correctly HDR. As we explained in this article, it is currently very difficult to find a TV with less than 1000 € which displays a good HDR image. The Samsung QE65Q70R – which we tested recently – is in a good position to get there, but it will be necessary that Samsung offers promotions to bring it below the € 1,000 mark. Currently, it is the Oled end-of-life models – like the Panasonic 55FZ800 available at around € 1,250 – that offer the best HDR / price report.

To return to the TV Xiaomi Mi TV 4S, it will be sold € 180 in 32-inch version, € 350 in 43-inch version and only € 450 in 55-inch version. With a good factory calibration in SDR, the Xiaomi TV could thus quickly be placed as a very good quality / price ratio, but it will have to wait until next year since Xiaomi does not expect a commercialization in France before the first half of 2020.
