TheAcura MDX is arguably the most popular model of the luxury brand of Honda. This three-row, mid-size luxury SUV has sold over a million units in the past 20 years. The fourth generation will be unveiled on October 14, 2020 and it is the most significant redesign for the SUV. While waiting for the unveiling, the manufacturer has published a photo and a video suggesting the result.
The Acura MDX has won over all these years for its good value. It offers a good marriage of luxury and performance at a competitive price against several rivals that are much more expensive and packed with expensive options.
According to the information available, Acura announces a longer, wider and lower MDX than the current generation model. On the style side, it's a safe bet that it will take on the visual signature of the all-new TLX, one thing is certain, the famous Jewel Eye headlights are back.
"We are accelerating Acura's commitment to precision performance and the fourth generation of the MDX is the most ambitious and significant overhaul of such a significant model in Acura history," said Jon Ikeda, vice -President and responsible for the Acura brand. “This all-new MDX will take us into new territory in terms of performance, prestige and emotional appeal.”
Acura says it will be a prototype, but in fact it will be very close to the production one. Acura has accustomed us to this way of doing things, disguising its production models in order to leave some room for maneuver.
On the mechanical side, the new Acura MDX is expected to share the same base powertrain as the TLX, a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine producing 272 horsepower. A more powerful 355 horsepower 6-cylinder engine is also rumored to be offered in a Type S livery.
The production model is expected to be unveiled in 2021 and the vehicle to market in 2022.
