If Elon Musk is right, the Tesla Model Y will become the best-selling vehicle in the world in 2023.
Tesla is selling more and more cars and its profits are growing every quarter. But for now, the American manufacturer remains far from the largest groups in the world in terms of sales. With just over 500,000 vehicles distributed in 2020, the Californian brand remains a good distance from Mercedes and BMW, which each year exceed the two million cars sold.
But for the big boss of Tesla Elon Musk, the development of his brand will be exponential in the years to come. So much so that he thinks that the Model Y will be the best-selling vehicle in the world by the year 2023. Knowing that the currently best-selling model in the world, the Toyota Corolla, sells to around 1.1 million units, it will be necessary to exceed this figure.
When will the first million be?
It passed 185,000 Tesla during the first quarter of 2021. By the end of the year according to projections, Tesla should therefore sell a little less than a million vehicles including the Model 3, the Model Y , the Model S and the Model X. The objective of selling at least 1.1 million Model Y therefore seems optimistic for the moment, even if the multiplication of Tesla factories in the world will undoubtedly make it possible to accelerate the pace. .
Seems quite likely at least based on revenue in 2022 & possibly total units in 2023
