Tesla has just announced a new price list for its Tesla Model S. The Tesla Model S Large Autonomy and Performance see their price fall respectively under 80,000 and 100,000 euros. The automaker hopes to boost sales of its electric sedan, after disappointing results over the past two years.
The Tesla Model 3 has always been the undisputed star of Tesla, the banner of the American manufacturer. In fact, the company led by Elon Musk is constantly making improvements and tweaks to its flagship sedan. On October 12, we learned from our colleagues at the Electrek site that Tesla will redesign the interior design of the Model 3, which is more classy and more comfortable.
This assiduous monitoring of the manufacturer concerning its sedan has borne fruit. The numbers speak for themselves. In the first half of 2020, the Tesla Model 3 is the best-selling family sedan in France, ahead of the Peugeot 508. If all goes well with the Model 3, the situation is less bright with the Tesla Model S.

Elon Musk wants to save the Model S
After two years marked by a significant drop in sales, Tesla decided to revise the prices of the Model S in the hope of reviving consumer interest in its other electric sedan. To give you an idea, the Tesla Model 3 has accumulated in France over the first half of 2020 no less than 14,285 Sales, according to figures from the Argus website.
In comparison, the American manufacturer sold 15,200 Tesla Model S and Model X during the third quarter of 2020 in the whole world. As you can see, the sales volume of the Model S and Model X is significantly lower than that of the Model 3. Rather than remain on a failure, Elon Musk therefore wants to endow the Model S with new selling points. Starting with a lower price.
Thus, on the manufacturer's French site, we can now find the Tesla Model S Grande Autonomie from € 79,990 against 83,990 € previously. As for the Tesla Model S Performance, its price falls below the symbolic bar of 100,000 €, from € 100,990 to € 96,990. Note that the recent and overpowered Tesla Model S Plaid with its 840 km of autonomy and its 1100 horsepower is not affected by its price readjustments. We will now have to wait a few weeks to find out whether these new prices have borne fruit or not.
