The 2021 version of the Tesla Model X electric SUV is expected to benefit from an extended range of several tens of kilometers, according to a Monroney label spotted by Electrek.
Decidedly, Elon Musk wants at all costs to revitalize the sales of his Tesla Model S and Model X in view of the many improvements observed over the past three months. The American entrepreneur initially focused on the electric sedan by improving its range – up to 643 kilometers – followed by a price reduction of several thousand euros for the Long Range and Performance versions.
Twenty extra miles
This time around for the trendy Model X SUV to receive an interesting update on its range, according to a Monroney sticker spotted by Electrek on the Tesla Motors Club forum. Mandatory in the United States for new cars, this type of label includes a list of official information such as range. The one displayed on the said sticker refers to 371 miles (597 kilometers) … against 351 miles (564 km) on the US configurator.
This sticker would also concern the 2021 versions of the Model X, which would therefore have the right to more interesting endurance. If this difference of twenty miles corresponds to a small thirty kilometers, the difference observed on the French configurator could be greater: the approval procedure in the United States (the EPA in this case) is indeed not the same as in Europe (WLTP).
Tesla Model X: towards a next price cut?
In fact, the autonomies calculated for the Land of Uncle Sam and the Old Continent generally show slight differences. According to Electrek's hypotheses, this improvement could be the consequences of better energy density in new cells delivered by Panasonic, although the time remains for speculation.
Now whether the Model X will meet the same fate as the Tesla Model S with an upcoming price cut. The question remains in suspense. What is certain is that Tesla wants to breathe new life into its first two electric models given their sales figures which have been declining for two years now.
