DESIGN AND ERGONOMICS: NULL MATCH
The aesthetics of a mobile are a matter of personal taste, but ergonomics are less so. Those who like smartphones with small dimensions might be seduced by the size of the OnePlus Nord (158.3 x 73.3 x 8.2 mm / 184 g) rather than that of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite (163.7 x 74, 8 x 7.9 mm / 192 g), larger. Neither cell phone has water resistance certifications or support for microSD cards. The Mi 10 Lite has a handy 3.5mm mini-jack, something that the OnePlus Nord does not offer.
Both smartphones offer a glass back (Gorilla Glass 5), but that of the Mi 10 Lite is much messier and slippery, while plastic strapping covers both products. The philosophy differs in the installation of photo blocks: at OnePlus, it is a very classic vertical block, while at Xiaomi, we opt for a rectangular block like a hob. It’s the same up front: a double-punched porthole for the North and a centered teardrop notch for the Mi 10 Lite.
Finally, both devices host an under-screen fingerprint reader, Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC.
SCREEN: XIAOMI MI 10 LITE
Very nice duel between these two smartphones in terms of screen. Despite the great abilities of the North, it is the Mi 10 Lite that wins by a short head. Xiaomi's terminal offers higher brightness, a delta E of only 1.5 (compared to 1.7 in the North) and a reflection rate of only 44%. The North does not, however, deserve it, because it is also very well calibrated. We can blame it for a slightly high minimum brightness (4.3 cd / m² against 2.4 cd / m²) and a higher reflection rate (52%).
Too bad, because this screen has a refresh rate of 90 Hz, which the Mi 10 Lite does not. The two otherwise offer a similar definition of 1080 x 2400 pixels for a resolution of just over 400 dpi.
The OnePlus Nord and Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite both opt for a Snapdragon 765G chipset that powers many mid-range devices. On each of these mobiles, this SoC is very effective. It is possible to run greedy games and perform heavy tasks. Difficult to distinguish here a winner.
PHOTO: XIAOMI MI 10 LITE
The Nord and Mi 10 Lite feature a fairly similar photo block, consisting of four modules. There is a wide-angle, an ultra-wide-angle, macro and depth lenses. Here is a summary of the different photo modules offered by the two smartphones.
|OnePlus North||Xiaomi mi 10 lite|
|Main: 48 megapixels||Main: 48 megapixels|
|Ultra wide-angle: 8 megapixels||Ultra wide-angle: 8 megapixels|
|Macro: 2 megapixels||Macro: 12 megapixels|
|Time of Flight (depth): 5 megapixels||Time of Flight: 2 megapixels|
The Mi 10 Lite and the OnePlus North each have their flaws and qualities. Xiaomi's mobile, for example, doesn't have very good white balance management, even during the day. Conversely, the OnePlus North offers fairly accurate color management. Regarding the details of the images, the Mi 10 Lite offers a more precise rendering, which seems to confirm better management of the pixel binning.
At night, the OnePlus North wins with more detailed images and despite significant electronic noise. This is an interesting way to manage images since they are primarily intended for viewing on a smartphone, without any particular need for enlargement.
Ultra wide-angle module
OnePlus could have won by taking more care of its ultra wide-angle module. But that of the Mi 10 Lite is frankly more convincing thanks to more detailed, sharper and more colorful images.
AUTONOMY: XIAOMI MI 10 LITE
This is surely the category where this duel is the least close. The Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite is indeed much more enduring than the OnePlus North. The Mi 10 Lite thus has an autonomy of 20 h 6 min while the North reaches 16 h 21 min. This difference can be explained in particular by the use of a smaller battery on the Nord, which displays 4,115 mAh when the Mi 10 Lite offers 4,160 mAh. It can thus be said that the Mi 10 Lite benefits from a more efficient energy management.
On the charge side, the OnePlus Nord gains full autonomy in 60 minutes, while the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite takes 86 minutes to perform this task.
VERDICT: XIAOMI MI 10 LITE
At an equivalent price, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite leaves the OnePlus North no chance. Both offer a very good screen, similar performance and virtually identical ergonomics. But the Mi 10 Lite is more gifted in photography and its autonomy is much higher.
