The English group Jaguar Land Rover unveiled its roadmap a few days ago. The new Range Rover will be the very first model to adopt the modular MLA platform, which will mix thermal and electric powertrains on a large number of models at Jaguar and Land Rover. This MLA platform is structured around three levels depending on the size of the models: low, mid and high.
The CFO of JLR confirmed during a conference call with investors that the “mid” version had been stopped internally. If we already know that this put an end to an electric Jaguar XJ, it also has the consequence of making the projects (not officially confirmed) of the “Road Rover” and the Jaguar J-Pace stillborn.
From now on, JLR announces it clearly: it is necessary to concentrate on the models which sell, and which return. That is why the current focus is on preparing for the launch of the new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.
For 100% electric models, you will have to be patient. The platform dedicated to these vehicles, called EMA, will not arrive before 2024.
