Since childhood, the former partner of La Maison Générale, Intra-Muros, has a passion for vintage cars. With Auto classic trading, at La Fresnais, he realizes his dream, by selling Jaguar, Ferrari, MG …
"Since I was 18, I ride with an old car. " Thirty years later, this passion becomes a profession. After his departure as a partner of La Maison Générale, Intra-Muros, a year ago, Grégory Rouxel bought a building that belonged to his father-in-law, in La Fresnais, rue de Saint-Guinoux.
"It already housed a garage, held by Frédéric Debievre. " The two men team up and create two structures: Auto classic garage, for the maintenance and restoration … of vintage cars and Auto classic trading, managed by Grégory Rouxel, for sale.
A restoration can take months
"In the workshop, preparation boxes are waiting for each new car. She stays there until the end of her interview. For a complete restoration, it can take months, explains Gregory Rouxel.
The garage has also invested in a painting booth, "Which allows to achieve perfect finishes. " An exhibition hall, heated, dust-free, was created next to the garage. Open by appointment, it houses cars for sale. "There are ours and those of customers who bring them in consignment. "
Grégory Rouxel targets two types of clients. " Those of the region, owners of vintage cars, looking for a place to maintain or store them, in winter or for lack of space. " And those from all over France, who want to buy one.
Jaguar, Ferrari, Porsche, Corvette …
Auto classic trading sells so-called premium cars. The English are called Jaguar, MG, Triumph, Austin Healey. The Americans, Corvette, Ford, Cadillac. The Italians, Ferrari, Alpha Romeo and the German Porsche, Mercedes. To Grégory to find these little jewels. The market is mostly in the United States.
"70% of the production of new cars from the 1960s-1970s in Europe was bought by Americans," explains Grégory, who moves there or goes through contacts. His latest find? A type E Jaguar, in competition status, from 1969. "The least bolt is new. It has been restored by a collector in the United States. We were there at the right time. "
But not all cars are at this price. In a corner of the garage, a nice little orange MG sells for 20 000 €. But this market is not just about price. A car may at one point access the collection if it is over 25 years old. It may date from the post-war years until 1970.
of the Super 5, 205 GTI … also in collection
Other models have also arrived on the market since the 1980s. They are called "young teamers". This can be a 205 GTI, some Super 5 or Golf, with some mechanical specificities. "Every model has a national rating. " Even a 2 CV can access this status.
In the magazine of vintage car lovers The Life of the car, where Grégory Rouxel also deposits his ads, we see one to € 6,620. And to say that mine over 30 years has ended in the case.
