After a long campaign of teasers, the Rolls-Royce Ghost 2021 has been unveiled with a new design and a host of new features.
The new Ghost is here! It is based on the same flexible aluminum architecture as the Phantom and Cullinan. For the Ghost, the movable partition, the floor, the cross members and the sill panels have been repositioned to meet the requirements of the exclusive clientele of the British brand.
Everything is powered by a twin-turbo 6.75-liter V12 engine associated with an all-wheel drive system. The latter develops 571 horsepower and a maximum torque of 850 Nm. Rolls-Royce claims that this engine delivers its maximum torque from just 1,600 rpm and that it has a fairly innovative system to reduce unwanted engine noise. in the cabin.
The block in question is placed behind the front axle of the Ghost, giving the sedan a perfect weight distribution (50/50). Power is transmitted to all four wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission that includes the power transmission system Rolls-Royce satellite, which extracts GPS data to pre-select the optimum gear for upcoming turns. The new Ghost also has four-wheel steering.
Luxury and technology
A particularly innovative feature of the new Rolls-Royce Ghost is its suspension system. It is the result of ten years of testing and development, and incorporates an Upper Wishbone shock that works alongside a 'Flagbearer' system that uses cameras to read the road and prepare the suspension system for any change in the surface. on which the car is running.
All of these technologies evolve the brand-specific “Magic Carpet Ride” double wishbone suspension system, and include self-leveling air suspension technology. Planar software also manages all-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, stability control and self-drying braking systems. Suffice to say that the new Ghost is also a real technological factory.
Interior: opulence and space
Getting in and out of a Rolls-Royce has always been an event and it's no different with the new Ghost. Rolls-Royce continued to develop its self-closing doors which now allow owners to open the door with a push of the interior handle. When the door is open enough, just let go of the handle and a door brake automatically engages. By pressing a button on the exterior door handle, the door will close automatically.
Compared to the previous generation, the new Ghost has stretched 89mm (5.546m in total) and is also 30mm wider (1.978m). Inside, Rolls-Royce has developed an impressive soundproofing system capable of generating almost imperceptible sound waves.
The new Ghost is equipped with a high-performance audio system … which is to say that it will be a real concert hall.
New stylish look
As for the exterior of the Rolls-Royce Ghost 2021, it has a familiar character but still stands out from the previous model. Up front is a new grille that includes 20 LEDs below the top of the grille to illuminate the grille. Still at the front, we notice LED and Laser headlights which do not change much compared to those of the previous generation while at the rear, new lights with a slightly different look are present.
But all this technology and comfort come at a price: it will cost at least $ 332,500 in the United States to afford the new Rolls-Royce Ghost, and certainly as much in Europe… but in euros!
