Recipe: light and soft sandwich bread at the same time

First of all, a few details for a successful sandwich bread recipe. For cooking this homemade bread, several solutions are possible. If you have a bread maker, you can leave the machine running. You also have the option of preparing the dough, in a machine or not, and baking it in the oven. On the mold side, the ideal is a striped bread pan Pullman type (with or without lid according to your preferences for the bread, which will be more or less compact).

You need :

  • 420 g of bread flour (type T55)
  • 20 g of fresh baker’s yeast
  • 40 g melted butter
  • a tablespoon of powdered sugar (15 g)
  • a teaspoon of fine salt
  • 20 cl of warm milk
  • 10 cl of water

Preparation of soft sandwich bread

If you are using a bread machine, follow the order indicated in the instructions for introducing the ingredients and start the kneading program, or even the white bread program if you want the bread to be machine baked.

Otherwise, first mix the baker’s yeast in water. Introduce the other ingredients, mix well and knead the dough. When it is smooth and elastic, form a ball, cover and let stand at least two hours. The dough should have doubled in size.

Preheat the oven to 200 ° C. On a floured worktop, work the dough to degas it and form a dough sausage. Lightly grease the bread pan and place the dough in it. Place the dish in the oven and cook for about half an hour, until the top is golden.

Homemade sandwich bread without milk

It is quite possible to replace milk with a vegetable milk like almond milk. You can also put honey or agave syrup. Once you enjoy your plain homemade sandwich bread, you can try adding aromatic herbs, dried fruits or even small pieces of vegetables such as olives.
