Pipo Derani in Action Express's Cadillac DPi-VR # 31 set the fastest time in the third (night) free practice session at Petit Le Mans, narrowly ahead of Renger van der Zande (Cadillac # 10) by 0.040 seconds. Dane Cameron and Ricky Taylor set the third and fourth lap times for the Acura Penske team. The fastest Mazda was Harry Tincknell's # 55 in fifth place. These first five beats are held in just 0.129 seconds.

Porsche continued its dominance with the two Porsche 911 RSRs in the top two places. Laurens Vanthoor was the fastest with # 912, ahead of teammate Fred Makowiecki on # 911. Nicky Catsburg's # 3 Corvette C8.R is 3rd ahead of Team BMW RLL’s first BMW M8, Augusto Farfus’s # 24. The six GTLMs are in just 0.622 seconds.
Jack Hawksworth was the fastest in GTD with the # 14 Lexus RC F GT3 by AIM Vasser Sullivan. Wright Motorsports’ # 16 Porsche 911 GT3 R was the second fastest in the hands of Jan Heylen, followed by Team Hardpoint’s # 30 Audi R8 LMS GT3 of Markus Winkelhock. Alessandro Balzan, who is making his return to production, is 4th with the # 63 Ferrari 488 GT3 of Scuderia Corsa.
The session was marked by two red flags: the most important came 25 minutes from time when Chris Miller and Ben Keating made contact. The collision knocked both cars off the track, and while Keating's # 74 Riley Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo was able to resume testing, Miller's # 85 Cadillac JDC-Miller Motorsports sustained damage to the track. wing back and did not continue.
