Recently, Horacio Pagani announced the reveal of the Pagani Huayra R. It will be presented online on November 12th. While waiting to discover it from every angle, some rumors have emerged on the internet relating in particular to its mechanics.
During the announcement, the Italian manufacturer did not give any information about this Huayra R. The only thing we can be sure of is that it will be powered by an atmospheric V12. According to The Supercar Blog, this engine would still be signed Mercedes-AMG, and that it would be prepared by HWA; the competition department of the Affalterbach brand.
According to the same sources, the power of this engine is more than 900 hp. It would spin over 9,500 rpm and make an evil sound. That remains to be seen … Just like the Pagani Zonda R before it, the Pagani Huayra R should not be able to run on the road. Indeed, we believe that this oversized version of the Italian supercar will be strictly reserved for use on the circuit, a bit like the Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 developed by Lamborghini Squadra Corse.
Pagani does not intend to remove the Huayra from its catalog. The Zonda – its ancestor – was marketed for several long years. The first version was born in 1999, 10 years later the Zonda R rolled off the assembly line. The Huayra could follow in the footsteps of its predecessor and end its career on a high note with the Pagani Huayra R.
As an anecdote, the Pagani Zonda R gave birth to the Zonda Revolucion which was even more powerful and more extreme. It was produced in very small series and was sold for several million euros. We are therefore not immune to seeing an improved version of the Huayra R tumble in a few years.
