Nokia announced Thursday the deployment of a fifth generation (5G) private wireless network on behalf of a subsidiary of the Japanese electricity company Kyushu Electric.

The project should allow QTnet, a broadband Internet access provider belonging to the energy group, to launch new 5G services for sectors such as health, specifies the telecom equipment manufacturer in a press release.

According to Nokia, this is the first time that a local 5G network has been deployed in the region through the acquisition of a commercial spectrum license.
