MIUI 12: the main innovations
To improve the famous user experience, Xiaomi has completely redesigned the MIUI 12 graphic charter. Inspired by nature, the interface is distinguished by a completely new animation system. Mi Render Engine is responsible for bringing faster navigation while Mi Physics Engine brings a smoother range of animations and transitions. Above all, Xiaomi has redesigned the layout of the various elements to improve ergonomics and make the experience more intuitive and personalized.
Those who have followed the advances of MIUI 12 have certainly seen the "Super Wallpaper". This 3D wallpaper uses images of planets straight from NASA with stunning animation when the smartphone is unlocked.
Among the other new features, there is the strengthening of privacy protection with a whole host of parameters that complement those already offered by Google on the Stock version of Android. Better multitasking (with floating windows), a revisited dark mode, native video capture and a mode "Ultra-battery saving" complete the package.
Last but not least, MIUI 12 finally integrates an application drawer, absent from previous versions of the Xiaomi OS. The manufacturer was inspired by the drawer used in the Poco Launcher, to our delight.
MIUI 12 available from June 2020
MIUI 12 deployment will begin from June 2020 on a few models only. The lucky ones are the Mi 9, Mi 9T, Mi 9T Pro, Redmi K20 and its Pro version. The other smartphones will be served model by model over the weeks. You can find the full list of compatible smartphones here.
With MIUI 12, Xiaomi seems to deliver the interface of maturity. Already highly appreciated by many users, it was also the subject of criticism, in particular because of the lack of an application drawer so dear to Android devotees. The new recipe therefore looks promising. Anyway, we can't wait to taste it.
