MIUI 12.5, Xiaomi’s home overlay based on Android 11, is coming to six of the manufacturer’s smartphones. The entire Mi 11 range is affected, as well as the Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, Mi 10 Ultra and the Mi 9 SE.
As you may know, Xiaomi officially presented MIUI 12.5, its overlay based on Android 11, in December 2020 alongside the Mi 11. By the manufacturer’s own admission, the development of this overlay was the most difficult of all, because of the many problems encountered in ensuring good performance, stability and adapting applications.
It is for this reason that the overlay has not been automatically integrated on the smartphones of the Mi 11 range, namely the Mi 11, the Mi 11 Pro, and the Mi 11 Ultra. Beginning of April 2021, Chinese Mi 11 owners were able to migrate to the stable version of MIUI 12.5. However, as we learned from our colleagues from the GSM Arena site, Xiaomi is preparing to deploy the stable version of its new overlay on six additional smartphones.
So, the Mi 11 Ultra and the Mi 11 Pro are also eligible for a switch to MIUI 12.5, just like the Mi 10, the Mi 10 Pro, the Mi 10 Ultra and finally the Mi 9 SE. For now, this migration to MUI 12.5 only concerns Chinese users. Initially, Xiaomi intended to deploy the stable version in China on April 30, 2021, but eventually the developers of the manufacturer managed to finalize the last details on the stable version before the scheduled date.
First China, then the other markets
Regardless, the rollout of the stable version of MIUI 12.5 in China is good news for users in other territories. Logically, Xiaomi should therefore proceed to a global deployment very soon., by the end of April or the beginning of May. As the Chinese company clarified, the range of Mi 11, Mi 10 and Mi 10T will be the first to benefit from it. From June, other smartphones of the brand will be able to claim a migration under MIUI 12.5. This will be the case in particular for:
