A real makeover for the GLA. For this second generation of its compact SUV, Mercedes-Benz had a heavy task, as the first version was a commercial success with 1 million units sold worldwide.
The least that can be said is that this new generation is successful in terms of design, interior roominess, technology and safety. Introduced in Morocco in mid-September by Auto Nejma, the brand's exclusive distribution card holder, the 2nd generation GLA has resolutely more character than its predecessor given its imposing proportions accentuated by the short overhangs. front and back. The sketched bosses on the engine cover, the powerful shoulders of its bodywork and the vertical front section intensify this impression of robustness.
This sharp effect of the vehicle is harmoniously combined with a reduction of lines and an enhancement of surfaces for more sportiness and modernity. As proof of its dimensions: if it is 1.5 cm shorter than its predecessor (4.41 m), the new baby SUV with the star is 10 cm taller and 3 cm wider with a wheelbase that has been lengthened by 3 cm. All of this has the advantage of benefiting the passengers with improved legroom in particular.
The new GLA also introduces safety advances with its driver assistance systems. This is how the Driving Assistance Pack has been extended to include intersection, emergency lane, exit warning and pedestrian signaling functions. The vehicle has active assisted emergency braking. This system can brake up to 60 km / h.
The technology on board is also improving. The GLA also receives the same all-screen dashboard and the same MBUX interface as its siblings. The digital instrumentation and the central display start at 7 and 7 inches respectively at entry level.
The engines are four cylinders, gasoline and diesel, powerful and efficient worthy of the fame of the German manufacturer. Marketed since mid-September, the GLA is offered in four versions (style, progressive, AMG line and AMG line +) from 399,000 including tax.
