McLaren had announced the arrival of a hybrid supercar. Until then, this model was in development in great secrecy. We knew it would be powered by a brand new engine, a V6 hybrid that the manufacturer would develop internally.
Today, the manufacturer from Woking released two images of its new supercar, which unfortunately remains camouflaged. Despite this, we can clearly see the lines of the electrified car which is a mix between the McLaren GT and the superb McLaren 720S.
This supercar is based on McLaren's brand new platform. Called MCLA for 'McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture', this architecture has been developed and optimized for hybrid powertrains which should flourish within the range of supercar manufacturers such as McLaren and Ferrari.
"This brand new supercar is the result of everything we've done to date; everything we've learned and achieved", commented Mike Flewitt, CEO of McLaren Automotive. “This is an all-new McLaren that opens the chapter of a new era. It is a car that drives extraordinary and offers mind-blowing performance as well as a fully electric range capable of covering most journeys. We see this new McLaren as a true 'next generation' supercar and look forward to showing it off to customers. ".
This supercar of a new kind will be able to advance as well thanks to its V6 gasoline, or, thanks to its electric motorization. For the moment, its electric autonomy has not been revealed, but as explained by the CEO of the brand, it will be sufficient to cover everyday journeys in urban areas. This model will be presented next year in the first half of 2021.
