After a first teaser almost six months ago, Maserati unveils new images of its future and second SUV: the Grecale, little brother of Levante, “surprised” in the streets of Modena, Italy.

Go back. We are in September 2020. Maserati unveils its new supercar, the MC20, and takes the opportunity to announce the arrival ofa new and second SUV in its range. After the Levante, launched in 2016, the trident firm promises the Grecale, a smaller model (the Levante is 5m long) which owes its name to a northeastern Mediterranean wind and which is “destined to play a key role in the development of the brand.”

Almost six months later, the Italian manufacturer puts this Grecale back in the spotlight. Maserati indeed broadcasts the first pictures of the machine, supposedly surprised and photographed by employees of the brand in the streets of Modena, in Italy. More precisely at the exit of the Maserati factory in Viale Ciro Menotti.

If the images are blurry and the model still camouflaged, the Grecale does not appear to be a simple scale model of the Levante. He apparently his own personality with a less imposing grille but also front projectors and rear lights with a very different design.

Maserati does not reveal more for the moment but does indicate that prototypes of the car are currently “in testing phase on the road, on the track and off-road, in various conditions of use. “

The Grecale is expected by the end of 2021. It will be produced at the Cassino plant in Italy and could be shipped under its hood a thermal V6 but also an electrified engine. To be continued …
