From June 1, 2020, Nike will become the official supplier of the Liverpool club. The announcement has just been made by the club itself.
Under contract since 2015 with New Balance, the English club from Liverpool has therefore formalized its change of equipment supplier from the 2019-2020 season and more particularly from June 1, 2020. After a tough battle in marketing but also on the legal level between Liverpool and New Balance, it is the American brand with the swoosh which wins the jackpot by signing the reigning European and World champion and especially one of the most supported clubs on the planet.
" Our iconic attire is a key element of our history and our identity. We welcome Nike to the LFC family as the new official supplier of jerseys, and we expect them to be an incredible partner for the club, both at home and around the world, as we continue to expand our fan base. As a brand, Nike reflects our growth ambitions and we look forward to working with them to bring fans exciting new products " It was with these few words that Billy Hogan, general manager and commercial director of LFC, officially announced on Tuesday morning what seemed to be getting closer a few months ago. While usually the changes of equipment manufacturers are done in the greatest peace, the announced transfer between New Balance and Nike was played in the commercial courts of London. Arguing the fact that it could largely match the amount offered by Nike, the brand New Balance was finally dismissed by the courts a few weeks ago " I therefore concluded that New Balance's offer on marketing was less favorable for Liverpool FC than that of Nike (…) It must follow that Liverpool FC is not obliged to sign a new agreement with New Balance according to the terms of his offer Said judge Nigel Teare in charge of the case. A decision that gives birth today to a new official agreement.
" We would like to thank New Balance for their support over the past few years and wish them good luck in the future"
