After launching the first SUV in its history, which was renamed the LX, in 1996, Lexus is now celebrating, 24 years later, the goal of five million SUVs and crossovers sold worldwide.
The feat, the luxury brand Toyota says in a statement, was achieved earlier this summer, at a time when Lexus has a total of six SUV and crossover models in its lineup: UX, NX, RX, RX L, GL and LX.
In addition, and according to data put forward by the manufacturer, SUVs and crossovers represent, today, around two thirds of the brand's total sales, also thanks to the marketing of this type of models, in 90 markets across the world.
In terms of engines, we highlight the supply of RX, RX L, NX and UX crossovers, with their hybrid and gasoline engines, based on the "Full-Hybrid" system, made known, for the first time, with the RX hybrid SUV 400h, in 2005.
Today, this engine represents a third of the global volume of the Lexus SUV lineup, rising to 96% in Western and Central Europe.
