The second edition of the Lexus UX Art Car design competition was won by the Spanish studio Clap Studio with its work entitled “Zen Garden”, carried out as it should be around the UX SUV, and made up of thousands of paper flower petals.
This work immortalized here in the gardens of Club Alma in Madrid, was part of the work presented by six artists from Bilbao, Madrid, Seville, Murcia and Barcelona, work submitted to the public vote by Lexus Spain on social networks. Jordi Iranzo and Angela Montagud, who form the Clap Studio collective based in Valencia, Spain, wanted to offer with their work a personal interpretation of the classic Japanese meditation garden.
“Our concept is a Zen garden which represents a state of mind: calm and pure awareness,” they explain. “In our Zen garden, Lexus represents perfect harmony, it is the union of nature, technology and innovation. The creation by man of geometric lines and impeccable symmetries, covered with plants ”.
Paper and light are two important elements of Japanese culture, design and art, and here they transform the Lexus UX into a “living form,” says Angela Montagud, a form that changes color throughout the ride. day depending on the position, tone and intensity of light.
Jordi Iranzo and Angela Montagud succeeded in this UX Art Car design competition Antoñito and Manolín, the winners of the 2019 competition with their work “Gyorin Kozane” (Armor os Scales), presented in particular at Chantilly Arts & Élégance Richard Mille 2019.
