The i-Pace is the first 100% electric Jaguar. It arrived on our market in 2018 and was awarded a few months after the prestigious title of “European car of the year”. If its commercial success does not meet Jaguar’s expectations, the i-Pace certainly has its place in our show dedicated to electric and hybrid cars, which takes place on the track of the Micheletty circus school.
The i-Pace is part of Jaguar’s SUV family, but its astonishing look doesn’t really make you think of a backpacker. The car is more like a big compact. It is equipped with two electric motors, one on each axle (hence the shortened front part), for a cumulative power of 400 hp. The 0 to 100 km / h is achieved in 4.8 seconds. With a 90 kWh battery, Jaguar promises a range according to the WLTP cycle of 470 km.
The Jaguar i-Pace at the 2021 Caradisiac Electric / Hybride Show
During our eco-driving test “until the breakdown” we managed to drive 573 km on one charge. Here it is possible to do without the brake pedal thanks to the “one pedal” system which recovers energy when decelerating with a high intensity going until the car comes to a stop.
Thanks to a fast charger in direct current 50 kW, one can find 270 km of autonomy in one hour but on a traditional domestic socket you will have to wait nearly 40 hours !!! as was the case during our test. Using a 7 kW Wallbox, it’s a little better or less worse: 14 hours. The Jaguar i-Pace is also dependent on a still too small number of fast chargers unlike the Tesla Model 3 which has its own network of superchargers and which, as a bonus, is more efficient.
The electrical architecture allows for a very large wheelbase, 2.99 meters. The I-Pace thus offers good habitability and a cargo volume of between 577 and 1,453 liters, supplemented by a trunk at the front for storing, for example, charging cables. The dashboard seems conventional at first glance, but it gives pride of place to the screens: there are two in the center console. The base price is € 79,990, excluding bonuses and can easily exceed € 100,000! like the “First Edition” version which embeds what is currently best in the catalog of equipment offered by Jaguar.

Video test – Jaguar i-Pace: sus to Tesla
When we talk about premium electric cars, we necessarily think of Tesla and with good reason. However, things are changing with the arrival of historical players in the segment. Thus, as we could see during the last Paris Motor Show, Mercedes and Audi announced the upcoming marketing of their EQC and e-Tron. In the meantime, it is against all expectations Jaguar which is ahead of the German brands with its i-Pace. Read the essay.
The Jaguar I-Pace until the breakdown: muscle and breath
We already know that about 380 km can be achieved in a single charge, on a mixed profile of roads and with normal driving in a Jaguar I-Pace. But how much can you do to the maximum, by not using any electrical equipment on board and by deploying all your eco-driving skills on the perfectly calibrated circuit to get the most out of an electric vehicle that is the Paris ring road? This is the challenge we are embarking on in this section of which this is the last episode of the 2018 season. Read the essay.

Caradisiac’s reliability notice
As we know, the overall reliability of electric vehicles is on average higher than that of thermal vehicles. The reasons are simple. An electric motor has been made reliable since the beginning of the last century. There are far fewer moving parts and peripherals, which are prone to failure. There is also no complex depollution system. And that is good for the I-Pace, which escapes the brand’s problems with thermal models (even if they had already improved a lot). It should still be noted that the I-Pace underwent a recall in June 2019, concerning a series of 3,000 units manufactured between August 17, 2017 and April 11, 2019. It was a question of reprogramming the braking system regenerative, to avoid a delay effect between the moment when the brake pedal is pressed, and effective braking.
Many thanks to the whole Micheletty family who welcomed us to their circus located in Villeneuve-la Garenne, very close to Paris. Their professionalism and availability made it possible for the first time to organize an auto show in a circus! Hats off to the artists!
Partner of the 1 st Caradisiac show, last year, the Prévost Group is once again at our side in 2021 to manage the logistics of transporting the 120 cars exhibited during the Caradisiac Electric / Hybride Show 2021. A decisive support for the success of the event.
