The Toyota GR Yaris is one of a kind. It carries a turbo three-cylinder 261 hp that it sends to its four-wheel drive via a six-speed manual gearbox. This is the edgier version of the little Yaris, and it currently has no equivalent on the market.
Things could soon change as a mysterious prototype of the GR Yaris was spotted on the Nürburgring. This is different from the production model. It embeds a rear spoiler, appendages on the shield, openings on the front wings as well as a whole bunch of measuring elements that engineers scrutinize for the development of the car.
Of course, Toyota has not given any information about this prototype. But everything suggests that the Japanese manufacturer is in the process of concocting us a spicier version of the Yaris. In fact, it could be the Yaris GRMN which should be even more powerful and lighter than the GR Yaris.
In doubt, we cannot confirm the existence or launch of the Yaris GRMN. After all, Toyota may well send this prototype to the Green Hell to develop a racing version of its Yaris. Nothing is certain to say the least, so we must patiently wait for the information that the manufacturer wants to communicate to us.
Remember that the previous generation of the Yaris existed in a GRMN version, we even tried it on the circuit and on the open road. The front-wheel drive sports car developed 212 hp and we were won over by its dynamic behavior. It was only produced at 600 units.
