While we are already talking about the future iPhone 13, it will certainly be accompanied by a new generation of the famous Apple operating system. A major update, which actually falls every year, and which should not this time concern all the old models of smartphones marked with the bitten apple …

IOS is the Apple-branded mobile operating system that governs all iPhones – only iPhones. And like Android, its big competitor made by Google which operates (almost) all the other smartphones on the market, it gets a new look every year. While several fixes are rolled out on a regular basis, this is what can make you feel like you are spending your time on updating, it is entitled to a new version once a year, which notably features new ones. features. This is how iPhone owners were able, finally, to discover the wonderful world of widgets a few months ago, with the arrival of iOS 14. And now we are already talking about its successor. , the alleged iOS 15.

While it is not expected before the next school year (and before that a priori from June, in beta, for developers), it is indeed the subject of a first rumor concerning the list smartphones with which it will be compatible. Because that’s what always worries the owners of an (old) iPhone: if it always comes with a device stamped with the latest Apple – in this case, for the iOS 15, it will be the iPhone 13 – the new generation of the operating system sometimes no longer supports certain older models. Last year, iOS 14 was lenient by making it available for all iPhones that could already run iOS 13. This year, it shouldn’t be the same song…

A site specializing in everything related to the apple brand, callediPhoneSoft, recently revealed the list of iPhones that will – according to him – still be able to install this future OS. And it is by browsing this one that we see three missing: the iPhone 6S, the iPhone 6S Plus and the iPhone SE (1st generation). Three models that are actually starting to get old, since they appeared on the shelves between 2015 and 2016. Also, if they still support the latest version of the operating system, it would not be surprising to see them switch to the hatch in the next big update.

The list of iPhone compatible with iOS 15

This would indeed correspond well to the usual schedule of Apple in recent years: the Cupertino company seems to wait every two years before making obsolete its oldest models. The last to have suffered the ax were the iPhone 5S and iPhone 6, in 2019, with the arrival of iOS 13. The iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus and iPhone SE (1st generation) had then become the oldest devices of the brand to still be able to install new updates. And after two years of suspension, therefore, they in turn should disappear from the list of compatible models.

Here are all the iPhones that should still be able to make the future iOS 15 update, if we are to believe the rumors (and logic):

You just have to wait a few months before you can verify the accuracy of this list. The apple brand, if we are to believe its habits, should officially present the future version of its famous iOS next June, during its traditional WWDC conference dedicated to developers.
