There are some models that go unnoticed, to the point where you almost forget they exist. It's even more difficult to remember when they play in a declining category, occupied by important players of international renown. In this context, the Japanese luxury vehicle manufacturer has quietly disconnected the artificial respirator of the Infiniti Q70, whose year 2019 is the last.
Infiniti will continue to focus on SUVs, with the manufacturer bringing the next-generation QX50 to market a little over a year ago. It will also eventually sell the QX55, this coupe sport utility with the same concept as the old FX / QX70.

The weakness of the sales is not foreign either to this abandonment. The Q70 began its career in Canada in this form with the designation M37, then M45 for the 2011 model year. Despite a resurgence in popularity at the launch of the sedan in comparison with the previous generation, sales declined rapidly. Starting from 408 units in 2011, they dropped to 249 in 2013 for the country as a whole.

It hardly improved when the name was changed – Q70 – in 2014, which aimed to harmonize it with the rest of the manufacturer's range. The sedan posted a slight gain in 2015, surpassing the 200-unit mark sold in Canada, but interest in the model relapsed later, so much so that sales in 2018 totaled 53 units.
It is unclear whether an intermediate sedan will return to the Infiniti lineup in the coming years. Now, the craze for SUVs is such that fewer and fewer consumers are looking to the side of this niche. Do not forget either that the German competition is fierce, with the Audi A6, the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class that are difficult to dislodge.

If ever you're interested, there should be some new Infiniti Q70 at the dealerships of the brand. The starting price is $ 58,120 with the V6 3.7 liters. An elongated version, which can be embellished with the 5.6L V8 engine, is also available for a fee.
