Apple has just rolled out an important update for iPhone, iPad and also Macs. It contains an important fix for WebKit.
Apple has just released a security update for iOS and iPadOS. If you have an iPhone or iPad, then you are welcome to update your device urgently. The new version 14.4.1 is available for iOS and iPadOS and also brings further improvements in terms of performance and stability. In addition to the update for iPhone and iPad, Apple also offers new versions for Macs and Apple Watch. Indeed, the WatchOS 7.3.2 and MacOS 11.2.3 versions bring bug fixes and performance and stability improvements.
Why is this important?
This update contains critical security updates and is recommended for all users. This concerns WebKit, malicious people can execute code taking advantage of a memory related flaw.
As a reminder, this update is available from iPhone 6s and higher, but also on iPad Air 2 and all tablets announced afterwards, the same for the iPad Mini 4 or the 7th generation iPod touch. To update, charge your device, connect to a solid network and go to settings to download the update over-the-air (offered and deployed directly to your device without going through a PC / Mac).
Coming soon to iOS 14.5
For information, Apple is currently testing the beta version of iOS 14.5, which should be deployed this spring. This version offers the unlocking of your iPhone thanks to your Apple Watch, practical when you have a mask, but also the support of the new game controllers of the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series S or X.
The natural sequel will be iOS 15 which will be announced at WWDC in 2021, certainly in June, for deployment in September 2021. For the moment, we do not know the content of iOS 15, while we begin to discover the Android 12 content since the arrival of the Developer Preview.
