Microsoft has just launched its new Xbox app for Android and iOS. Along with a brand new interface, game streaming from its console is now available to iPhone and iPad enthusiasts in addition to Android users.
The new Xbox app is here!
After several weeks of testing, the Xbox app is coming to its new version on Android and iOS. It is much smoother than the previous one and features a new look reminiscent of the interface of Xbox consoles. Much easier to learn, the menus have been redesigned to provide faster access to the features most used by game enthusiasts.
In addition to this interface change, this new version of the application also brings a major functionality for iOS users: game streaming from your console. With it, you can play your Xbox games directly on your smartphone using your Xbox One. If you don't yet know how to enjoy it, whether it's on iPhone or Android, follow the guide!
Warning : this functionality should not be confused with xCloud since in this case, it is Microsoft's servers that broadcast the game to the phone. As a reminder, xCloud is only available on Android currently and is not on iOS due to Apple blocking. Microsoft might just have a workaround as we told you about recently.
How to play remotely on iOS and Android?
To be able to play remotely on your smartphone, start by launching the new Xbox application from your mobile. At the top right of the screen (next to the bell), you will find a new icon allowing all interactions with your console.
Click on it, and then press " Remote play on this device ". You will be prompted to enable remote game on your console the first time you use it. Simply follow the steps displayed on your screens. Once it's done … you are almost ready! Connect your Xbox controller to the smartphone via Bluetooth and you can now play your Xbox games directly from your Android or iPhone smartphone.
Xbox streaming works over WiFi at home, but also everywhere else as long as you have an Internet connection. Note, however, that in 4G the latency is higher and the gaming experience is not always optimal. In addition, where the Xbox is installed, it is better to have an internet connection with a high enough upload speed to enjoy streaming in good quality. Note that when Xbox streaming is in use, you won't even notice it on your console since the power button will stay off.
A small accessory to improve the gaming experience
A small accessory is on the rise to enhance the Xbox mobile gaming experience. This is the MOGA Clip, sold for less than € 20 on Amazon . It simply acts as a link between the gamepad and the smartphone for better user comfort. See rather!
