Williams driver George Russell is hoping to fight the Alfa Romeos and Haas again this weekend at the Italian Grand Prix, round eight of the 2020 F1 Championship.
The first of three races organized in Italy [Monza, Mugello and Imola] this year, Monza is considered the temple of speed because of its layout made up mainly of straights.
George Russell will therefore aim to beat the single-seaters equipped with the Ferrari V6 block this weekend, in particular because the Maranello engine has suffered from a power deficit since the start of the year compared to other engine manufacturers.
"It's always a lot of fun to run at Monza. It's a historic track, very fast, high speed with minimal downforce. " reminds us of the British rider who had to retire last weekend at Spa-Francorchamps after a crash.
“I think in terms of performance it will be a very similar weekend to the one we just had at Spa because the characteristics of the circuit are very similar. "
“We will have the same objectives and goals as last weekend, trying to fight the Alfa and the Haas. "
Since the start of the 2020 season, George Russell has not scored any points in the world championship, as have his team-mate Nicholas Latifi, Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean.
It should also be remembered that George Russell will not be behind the wheel of his car for the first free practice session of the Italian Grand Prix, since his team decided to run the reserve driver Roy Nissany on Friday morning at Monza.
