The listening-to-info line is a device launched on March 8, 2021 by the University of Franche-Comté. It is run by M2 Psychology students who, like Fanny, want to contribute to the chain of solidarity that has been created for over a year now. ” Knowing that there is a student on the other end of the phone is reassuring. We talk among peers, this allows us not to feel judged and to be even better supported ”.

We are all involved in this crisis, we all feel concerned and we must stick together to support each other as best we can », Explains the student who is on duty for the info line, juggling her revisions and her internship.

A listening, advice and reorientation line

The information line is intended to listen, advise or redirect students who need it. ” This can be for material or financial assistance: sometimes, the students do not know where to go and we are there to guide them and direct them to the right interlocutor. “. But the strength of this line is also found in its vocation of listening and psychological help, as Fanny explains: “ we are also there to listen to students who feel alone or isolated. We are the listening ear they need “.

M2 Psychology students have been trained and equipped to answer calls. ” The University of Franche-Comté lent us a computer and a telephone, we also have all the useful numbers available to which we can redirect students. “. Confidentiality of exchanges is also essential: ” in order to respect confidentiality, we are requested to be in isolated rooms. The calls are also anonymous, it is very important to have exchanges of trust “.

Faced with the crisis, committed students

“For a year now, we have felt that student life has changed. Besides the fact that we can no longer meet for festive moments, we must also, more than ever, hang on to stay motivated in our studies ”. If the University of Franche-Comté had already set up several support systems, the information line was greeted with great relief among the students.

Involved and supportive, Fanny has also created a Facebook group called Respire which connects students for outdoor outings: walks, running races, rollerblading or cycling … activities in strict compliance with barrier gestures .
