BARCELONA (Agefi-Dow Jones) – The European Commission will deliver its decision on the merger between PSA and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) by February 2, according to a document published on the authority's website.
The Commission opened an in-depth investigation into the proposed operation in June, with a first deadline of October 22. It examines to what extent the merger would penalize competition in the European market for light commercial vehicles and vans.
PSA and FCA recently said they continued to hope for the deal to close by the end of the first quarter of next year. The new company will be called Stellantis and will keep the existing brands of the two manufacturers.
