Pierre Gasly’s sixth place at the Eifel Grand Prix last weekend brought the AlphaTauri team even closer to Ferrari in the constructors' championship.
After the eleventh round of the year in Germany, AlphaTauri is in seventh place in the constructors' standings, just 13 points behind Scuderia Ferrari.
This year, the Honda-powered AlphaTauri team amazes with its level of competitiveness on all types of circuits visited so far and has even enjoyed the luxury of securing a victory at Monza at home, but also and above all, on the lands of Scuderia Ferrari.
Frenchman Pierre Gasly – who was dismissed by Red Bull last year even before the end of the season – clearly played a big role in the development of this small team and the Normand has also scored points seven times. this year against five for his teammate [53 points for Gasly and 14 for Kvyat].
Gasly said AlphaTauri still has some work to do to match some of his rivals in the midfield, but he believes they still have a car that can fight for points at the moment.
“I have to say I feel good, the Nurburgring wasn’t the best track for us, there were some types of corners that we struggled with. " explains the Frenchman.
“But generally speaking, on Sunday we have a good package to fight in the peloton and in all conditions. "
“[At the Nürburgring] I knew it would be very difficult for everyone and there were going to be some good opportunities. "
“We got the maximum we could so I think we can be happy with that and I'm very excited for the races ahead. "
In the drivers' standings, Pierre Gasly is ahead of Sebastian Vettel by 36 points, while he is just ten points behind Charles Leclerc.
