The letter F, at Lexus, is synonymous with performance. However, the pure F models were never very numerous within the range and their marketing was never regular.
Lexus is said to be about to go there with a major offensive. Indeed, the Japanese site Best Car Web says that the luxury brand of Toyota has three F models in its sights and that we would see them pointing the nose during the current year.
At first, we would see the return of the IS F, a variant that we have already seen in the past. Under the hood of the latter, various rumors circulate. On the one hand, some say it would take advantage of the firm’s naturally aspirated 5-liter V8, the same block that powers the RC F coupe variant. The latter develops 472 horsepower and 395 lb-ft. Others talk about the Supra’s engine, an inline 6-cylinder that comes from BMW. This second solution seems less likely, but we’ll see.
Here is Shopicar! All models of the year and all current promotions.
As for the eventual LC F and LS F, they would share a new twin-turbo 4-liter V8 engine that would deliver something around 660 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque.
The question that arises, of course, is whether these vehicles will really see the light of day. As Lexus and Toyota herald an increasingly greener future, it would be a bit ironic if we were to come up with powerful V8 engines. At the same time, since this type of engine is in its last miles (at least in terms of mass distribution), the manufacturers are going with one last salvo. We see it with what the Dodge and Ram brands offer within Stellantis, in particular.
The “good” news is that the rumor speaks of a presentation this year of these new variants. We will therefore be fixed fairly quickly.
