While Huawei has just launched the HarmonyOS 2.0 beta, many of the brand’s smartphones still run on EMUI 11, the manufacturer’s overlay based on Android 10. This is particularly the case for the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro. After a deployment of EMUI 11 on both devices in China in December 2020, the overlay finally arrived in France towards the end of February 2021 on both smartphones.

Since its launch in April 2019, the Huawei P30 Pro has hosted three overlays, going from EMUI 9.1 to EMUI 10.0, EMUI 10.1 then finally EMUI 11.0. And without any problem to report. Until now. As reported by our colleagues from the Huawei Central site, Several Huawei P30 Pro owners reported big battery issues since the deployment of EMUI 11, like this user on Reddit.

I have a Huawei P30 Pro and just upgraded to EMUI 11. I noticed my battery drained faster since then. Does this have to do with the last update? ”, asks the user. “I noticed the same thing. The battery drains much faster. However, since the EMUI update I have disabled “intelligent battery management”, which may have made the difference ”, assumes another user.

For some users therefore, the autonomy of the smartphone does not even exceed the day in classic use (SMS, calls, a little browsing on the Net). For others, the problem finally disappeared after a few days after the installation of EMUI 11. Seeming until then only American users, several Chinese owners have reported the same damage.

For now, Huawei has not made an official statement regarding this battery issue., potentially caused by a bad software optimization of EMUI 11. Anyway, it’s a safe bet that the manufacturer will react if these problems were to affect more users. And you, are you concerned by these autonomy concerns on your Huawei P30 Pro?
