A leader in Europe and the United States, the California sedan breaks all records and totals nearly 250,000 registrations in the first eleven months of the year.
If she will face in 2020
with an increasingly wide offer, Tesla takes advantage of the delay of its main
competitors and wins in 2019. Without having to wait for the data from
December to take stock of the full year, the Californian brand
already positions as the undisputed market leader with its model
flagship: the Model 3.
Europe: the Renault ZOE
Despite its premium positioning, the Tesla Model 3 continues to dominate the European electric vehicle market. According to figures published by the specialized site EV Sales, the youngest of Elon Musk accumulated 7,380 registrations in the month of November alone. This is twice as much as the Renault ZOE, which is content with only 3,231 registrations over the same period.
In total, the Tesla Model 3 has totaled 73,041 registrations since the start of the year. An excellent score, especially since the Californian sedan did not start its deliveries on the old continent until February. Far behind, the Renault ZOE totals 42,708 units sold. In the all-electric segment, it is followed by the Nissan Leaf and the BMW i3, which have had 30,317 and 29,906 registrations respectively since the start of the year.
United States: Over 130,000
If he will have to deal with the end of the federal premium next year, the Californian manufacturer realizes a good year 2019 in the United States. With more than 10,000 copies sold in November according to Clean Technica, the Tesla Model 3 continues to occupy the first place in the market. What compensate for the decline in Model X and Model S, respectively registered at 1700 and 1000 copies in the past month.
Over the first eleven months of the year, the Model 3 had more than 130,000 registrations in the United States, leaving far behind all of its competitors. Yet financially more affordable, the Chevrolet Bolt sold 15,811 copies over the same period. The same goes for the Nissan Leaf, which has registered 11,138 copies since the start of the year.
China: the sleeping giant
If the Tesla Model 3 is queen in Europe and the United States, it is more difficult to establish itself in China. Over the year, it has 24,589 registrations and is content with the 9th position in the all-electric ranking, far behind BAIC’s small electric car, which is close to 90,000 units sold since the start of the year.
A situation which should however change in the coming months. Launched a year ago, the Gigafactory in Shanghai is now on track. Symbolic, the delivery of the first 15 copies will take place this Monday, December 30. Enough to increase the manufacturer's production volumes and boost sales on the world's largest automotive market.
