Audi presented the 4th generation of its Audi A3 Sportback after creating the premium compact segment in 1996. With this new generation, Audi has optimized the efficiency of its star compacts. It is in this context that Audi France challenged French journalists during a consumer challenge between Paris and Marseille.
The history of the Audi A3 began in 1996 with the presentation of the first premium compact and to date accounts for a total of 5 million units sold worldwide. The Audi A3 Sedan was presented in 2013 and was the first tri-body silhouette in the A3 range. This year we are inaugurating the 4th generation of the Audi A3 Sportback and the 2th generation of the Audi A3 Sedan.
Consumption challenge: more than 800 km with a full tank!
Thanks to the work of Audi engineers, the new A3 Sportback and Sedan offer improved fuel economy and already among the best in their segment. Audi France wanted to highlight these innovations during a consumption challenge with the Audi A3 Sedan in the 35 TFSI MHEV S tronic version and a 35 TDI S tronic version of the Sportback version. A consumption challenge that led our participants to make the journey Paris – Marseille, that is to say 800km, with a single full tank. The results of this challenge set new records in the compact segment with an average consumption of 3.4L / 100km for the Sportback TDI version and an average consumption of 4.5L / 100km for the TFSI Sedan version.
For Lahouari BENNAOUM Director Audi: “The new Audi A3s are reaching fuel consumption records for the benefit of our customers. The remarkable performance maintains a strong interest in petrol and diesel combustion engines. "
New Audi A3 optimized for more efficiency
The new Audi A3 range offers a wide choice of petrol and diesel engines which have been optimized. Both bodies are available with a TFSI engine equipped with 48V mild hybrid technology for a fuel consumption gain of 0.4L / 100km (WLTP). TDI engines, on the other hand, remain the most fuel-efficient versions, as demonstrated by this fuel consumption challenge with a record of 3.4L / 100km. These new Audi A3 Sportback and Sedan also benefit from an improved design for improved aerodynamics, and new technologies to enable our customers to adopt a more fuel-efficient drive.
Fuel consumption of the models mentioned above:
(Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions depend on the equipment chosen)
Fuel consumption combined in l / 100 km WLTP: 4.3 – 6.4
Combined CO2 emissions in g / km WLTP: 122 – 145
Fuel consumption combined in l / 100 km WLTP: 4.4 – 6.2
CO2 emissions combined in g / km WLTP: 112 – 142
