Nissan, Toyota, Cadillac, all these brands have already presented their work on a central rear view mirror which is in fact a screen retranscribing the images of a camera placed at the rear of the vehicle. At CES in Las Vegas, Aston Martin will also unveil such a rear view mirror, but with improved vision.
Today, the biggest technological advances no longer come systematically from high-end brands. We saw it recently with the arrival of a new kind of central rear view mirror. Indeed, it is no longer a simple mirror but a screen connected to a camera positioned at the rear of the vehicle. The two big advantages compared to the traditional "ice" are the following: a better angle of view and the possibility of seeing perfectly, even when you have a rear passenger in the center or an object that would obstruct the driver's view.
Aston Martin will unveil its digital central mirror at CES in Las Vegas. Developed jointly with the specialized company Gentex, this mirror has the distinction of transcribing several "images": from the rear but also from the sides, thanks to three cameras placed at strategic locations.
This technology is not just a showcase since it will be used on Aston Martin cars in the near future. Supercars such as the Valkyrie can benefit from this 2.0 rear view mirror, which is very useful in vehicles where rear visibility is zero.
We also imagine that this kind of thing will democratize in the future in commercial vehicles.
