While European automakers seem obsessed these days with high-performance SUVs, General Motors' flagship brand is in no hurry to follow suit.

Indeed, if you were hoping for a more athletic and more formidable version of the Cadillac XT5 and XT6 with the famous V patch, you will have to wait at least until the next generation.

This is what the site reports Cadillac Society, whose information comes from a source familiar with the company's plans.

Currently, it is possible to choose either of these Sport SUVs, with a standard double-clutch all-wheel system included, but the transformation is more aesthetic than anything else.

Despite a good update for the 2020 model year, which earned it a 237-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the Cadillac XT5 offers nothing more powerful and dynamic than an atmospheric V6 developing 310 horsepower.

For its part, the Cadillac XT6 has only mechanical option that said V6, also with a cavalry of 310 horses.

What about the small Cadillac XT4? It seems that the rumors of a performance version have been greatly exaggerated. Like the XT5, it includes a standard turbo engine of 237 horsepower.

As we speak, Cadillac prefers to focus on its all-new CT5 and CT4 sedans, which have been announced with surviving versions. This is of course CT5-V and CT4-V. Something even more spectacular is even in preparation, possibly with a 550 horsepower V8 biturbo as seen in the CT6-V.

In short, high-performance SUVs such as the BMW X3 M, the Jaguar F-PACE SVR and the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 will not have to worry about an American threat for a few years.
